Type of bevel
- V-bevel: It is like a “single slope”, only one side is inclined. Suitable for thinner materials, simple processing, from one side of the welding can ensure that the basic penetration, can reduce the parent material deformation, commonly used in medium-thickness plate butt.
- X-bevel: It is similar to “bilateral slope”, both sides are tilted and symmetrical. Suitable for thicker materials, double-sided welding so that heat distribution is more uniform, can significantly reduce deformation, easy to achieve full penetration, higher welding strength.
- K-bevel: One side has a complete slope and the other side has a short slope, like an “asymmetric double slope”. It is suitable for butt jointing of workpieces with uneven thickness, and can flexibly adapt to different thicknesses to ensure welding strength while controlling deformation.
- Y-bevel: One side inclined and with “small platform” (blunt edge), like “slope with edge”. Accurately control the depth of penetration, reduce the heat input during welding, can reduce the deformation of the base material and stress residue, suitable for welding scenarios that require high precision.

All four types of bevels can improve welding quality through rational design, especially in ensuring full penetration and reducing deformation, which is suitable for welding operations with different thicknesses and precision requirements.
