Robotic Auto Welding Machine for Fan Housings
Robotic Auto Welding Machine for Fan Housings with high rigidity gantry and ABB inverted robotic arm as the core, through the dual-position servo positioning and laser real-time tracking, to achieve CAD one-key import, 5-minute change of shape, unattended MIG/TIG adaptive welding, so that the weld seam a qualified rate of ≥ 99%, labor savings of 60-80%, for the centrifugal fans enterprises to open the door of the European standard and the American standard of high-end market.
Robotic Machine Types and Structure
Altron single-station robotic welding system is dedicated to the circumferential seam of the fan housing; because the tongue area remains out of reach, the model is named after its maximum processing radius. The whole machine consists of a heavy-duty welded base, a single six-axis floor-mounted robot, quick-change water-cooled torch, 3-D vision tracking, servo slide rail and integrated fume extraction.

Altron dual-station robotic welding system targets small fan housings. Two six-axis robots work side by side on a shared rigid platform and rely on high-precision electrode positioning instead of vision. The complete package includes dual quick-change torches, a synchronized control cabinet and a compact safety fence; the workpiece must have no side stiffeners and its width is strictly limited.

Altron gantry robotic welding system is engineered for large-diameter and extra-long fan housings. An inverted six-axis robot rides on a three-axis overhead gantry with three-point laser real-time correction. Its structure features spliceable beams, absolute-value servos, extendable rails, a heavy-duty inverted mechanism and a central dust-collection system.

Advantages and Features
In single-station mode, the system uses 3D vision for one-click calibration, boosting welding speed by 30–40 % over traditional methods, needs only one operator, and occupies the smallest footprint. Dual-station dispenses with vision hardware; high-rigidity mechanical positioning halves cycle time and cuts labor by two workers, though housing width remains strictly limited. Gantry relies on three-point laser real-time correction to raise speed by 50 %, turning a station once manned by three into a single-operator post, while the beam can be extended limitlessly as capacity grows—delivering efficiency, precision, and spatial flexibility in one package.
| Machine Types | Vision System | Welding Speed | Positioning Method | Labor Cost | Remarks |
| Single-head | 3D vision | 30%faster | one-click calibration | 1 operator saved | smallest footprint |
| Dual-head | None | cycle time halved | mechanical positioning | 2 operators saved | width limited |
| Gantry | 3-point laser | 50 % faster | real-time laser correction | 3 operators saved | beam extendable |
Under conventional methods, welds are often uneven and require secondary grinding to pass, advancing only two to three meters in ten minutes while two or three workers hover over the torch each shift and the rework rate hovers between five and eight percent. Switch to robotic welding and the seam is formed in one pass—smooth and uniform with no grinding needed—covering eight to ten meters in ten minutes, monitored by zero to one relaxed operator, while the rework rate is driven below one percent.
| Item | Tradition process | Robot |
| Appearance | uneven seam, need grinding | consistent finish,no grinding |
| Speed | 2-3 m/10 min | 8-10 m/10 min |
| Labor Cost | 2-3 workers/shift | 0-1 operator monitoring |
| Rework Rate | 5-8% | <1% |
Applications
Single-station: 200–800 mm diameter small HVAC, residential fresh-air units, prototypes and custom housings—perfect for rapid R&D iterations and low-volume, high-mix orders.

Dual-station: 500–1 200 mm diameter commercial HVAC blowers, automotive HVAC fans and rail traction cooling housings—dual torches halve cycle time, enabling high-volume continuous production while covering left/right or front/rear shells on one line.

Gantry: 1 000–2 500 mm and larger power-plant ID/FD fans, mine main fans, tunnel jet fans and marine high-pressure blowers—capable of welding several-metre-long spiral seams in a single pass to meet the demands of oversized, heavy housings.
